The iPhone Dev Team has spent the Christmas weekend and beyond testing the new ‘back up plan‘ untethered jailbreak solution for iOS 4.2.1. So far, the team has been working solely with Mac users and although a number of bugs have been resolved, some work still seems to be remaining. The team is presently reported to be working on a new version that will incorporate the usbmuxd files (that are at present required to be installed separately) into the native software.
When this is done, we hear, the untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4, iPad and iPod Touch 4G users should also open up for Windows users. In a tweet asking about the incorporation of usbmuxd on RedSn0w, the team has replied,
“that version is next…and if that’s successful, we should be able to expand to Windows testers after that”
Going by the rate the team has been churning out new improved versions, we expect this to not take more than a couple of days. In any case, stay on hold till we bring the news from this front.
