In May this year, Samsung opened up for pre-orders for their new SNE-60 eReader in the UK market. Following the success in the market, the company has now moved south to France where the device will soon be available across all the 228 stores of Carrefour in France.
But do not assume this to be a high demand launch. We are hearing that the eReader shall be priced at €329 ($411) in France. That’s enormously high considering that the Samsung SNE-60 is priced only at £187 in UK. Also, to put this into perspective, the price is close to double the cost of Amazon Kindle and Barnes and Noble Nook eReader.
So who’s going to purchase the pricey device? You – if you are impressed with the specs. The eReader will come with a 6-inches screen with 600×800 greyscale e-ink screen and an onboard memory for 1200 ebooks. The device supports Wi-Fi but there is no 3G. Other features include text-to-speech recognition, MP3 player for audiobooks, handwriting recognition and additional SD Card memory support.
