Adobe has released a new version of its Flash Player that is at present only available for Motorola Droid X and HTC Droid Incredible handsets. The new Flash Player 10.1.92.10 – as the name suggests – is apparently only a minor stablility update to the earlier Flash Player 10.1. Nevertheless, if you like being up-to-date on the software front, you should probably hit the Android Marketplace and get the update. There is automatic software update available right now and users will have to manually search and install the update. Also, Droid X users need to note that you will need to be updated to the latest Android 2.2 OS version.
Adobe has not officially released the changelog as of now. So do not expect to see any major improvements in performance with the new update.
Last week, some websites reported about having spotted HTC Droid Incredible handsets with a white back plate. While such photoshopped images are not exactly new, these reports noted that these were in fact launching soon. Now from what is reported on Droid Life, the white back casing on HTC Incredible is in fact available as an official accessory from the manufacturers. The official launch of these accessories is expected to happen only a few months down the line. However, users looking to purchase one immediately can make a custom order from one of the Verizon stores anytime now.
The custom back cases are available in red, besides white. The cost of these cases are noted to be $24.99 and can be ordered by using the following model code numbers
White HTC Back: VZW6300DORW
Red HTC Back: VZW6300DORR

The results don’t come as a surprise though. HTC has been one manufacturer who has been steadily churning out newer and better Android handsets in recent times. While Motorola may not compare in terms of the number of handsets launched, the company has surely sold its devices in volumes thanks to the heavy marketing campaigns.
HTC may however face much stiffer competition moving forward. The company has been facing a line of manufacturing delays that could potentially lower sale volumes. Additionally, Motorola has been seeing success with its new launches like Droid-X. Besides, with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy series of smartphones, expect Samsung to snatch a place or two in the top 5 when we revisit the numbers at the end of Q3.
Which of the top 5 Android handsets is your favorite? I’m going with the EVO.
Unrevoked has been a popular smartphone rooting tool among HTC manufactured Android 2.1 devices. The team of hackers have now introduced a very simple One-Click solution to root your new HTC Droid Incredible Android handset. Of course, technically the whole procedure is more than one step. But this is definitely a lot simple than many other rooting solutions.
Rooting your device is pretty simple. Visit Unrevoked’s page for Droid Incredible here and install the appropriate application (depending on whether you are on Windows, Mac or Linux). Run the application after you have connected your Droid Incredible to the computer and this will root your device.
However, here is a caveat to note. Rooting may not actually pan out as planned and you may also end up bricking your phone. Also, it is not clear if this application is compatible with the latest version of OTA that was released only recently. Either way, proceed with caution.
Folks who have pre-ordered an HTC Droid Incredible brace yourselves up for one more round of delay. The official ship date for the already-delayed Verizon Droid Incredible has now been postponed to August 3. According to sources, the delay has been due to the shortage in the supply of AMOLED displays from Samsung. HTC is learned to be in the lookout for alternatives to keep up with demand.
This is the second major delay on the Droid Incredible in as many months. Verizon had already apologized for the delay and had offered gift cards to customers who had pre-ordered a unit. Customers have also been offered other options like changing their order from Droid Incredible to Droid-X. Now with a further delay, we wonder how many customers would now contemplate cancelling the order entirely.
HTC has now revealed that the company has identified the source of the issue and is working on a software fix that shall be pushed to devices shortly. The announcement also makes it clear that this is an issue specific to the Droid Incredible and that other devices with Sense UI did not have the same problem.
HTC Droid Incredible was unveiled by Verizon last week to much positive acclaim. The device features Android 2.1 OS with Sense UI, brings an 8 megapixel camera and is powered by a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor.
Starting today, Verizon shall also be opening up their portal for pre-ordering of the device. Follow this link here to go ahead and make your purchase.
