Google is learned to be working on a new Groupon-style pre-paid offers service called ‘Google Offers‘. The service, which is said to be currently in its testing phase, will let customers get a daily email of best deals in their neighborhood. Customers may then choose to sign up for the deal within a prescribed time. If enough customers sign up within this time period, the deal will be activated.
According to sources, Google is working with businesses to release 80% of a business’ revenue share three days after the deal runs. The remaining 20% shall be held for up to 60 days to cover for refunds.
The Groupon model has generated tremendous interest in recent times and although there are concerns that such a business is not viable in the long term, we have been seeing a lot of acitivity in this space in terms of new entrants and consolidation. Google is known to have recently made an offer to acquire Groupon that was rejected by the management. Now, with Google’s entry, the segment is sure to see some interesting activity.
Head over to the Samsung Galaxy Tab page on the Verizon website and you should be seeing the usual $599 price point. But according to a number of sources, this price should drop down soon to less than $500. According to these sources, Verizon would not just be dropping the price of the Galaxy Tab from $599 to $499, but will also drop in an additional $60 worth of free movie rentals with these purchases.
It is not clear when these announcements are due. The sources claim that the $100 discount offer will also apply to customers who have made a Galaxy Tab purchase in the past 14 days. With the holiday shopping season now over, most of the customers must now be done with their seasonal shopping. In any case, this is a pretty attractive deal and we look forward to an official announcement.
Yet another attractive deal for the holiday season, if you are in the United States. Best Buy has announced that the massive 5″ Dell Streak will now be available on their stores at a discounted price of $99.99.
The Android smartphone, which recently got its FroYo update, has been selling at a price of $199.99 at the American Best Buy stores since October of this year. Specifications on the Streak include a 5″ Gorilla glass display, 1GHz SnapDragon processor, two cameras, integrated A-GPS,etc.
The latest promotion offer from Best Buy will be available on both the white and black colored variants. Do remember however that the $99.99 offer is with a new 2 year contract from AT&T. That’s not entirely surprising but if you would not like to tie yourself up with a two year contract, you may have to let this offer go.
You can also buy the Dell Streak online at the discounted price by clicking here.
Are you looking to buy an Android gadget for this holiday? You may want to check out this upcoming promotion offer from T-Mobile. The carrier is learned to prepping up for an announcement that will bring down the price of Samsung Galaxy Tab and Samsung Vibrant by as much as $50. This will mean that the base model of Galaxy Tab will now be available at $349.99 instead of the original $399.99. As for Samsung Vibrant, it is now expected to be available at $149.99 instead of the original $199.99. Both the offers are noted to be offered via a mail-in rebate.
Incidentally, there is also a buy-one, get-one-free promotion that is now on at T-Mobile which is expected to last until January 18th. Now, combine these two promotions and it’s going to be great savings this shopping season.
The holiday shopping season is in full swing and the carriers are doing all that they can in order to push the sales level up. Canadian carrier Telus has launched a new promotional campaign that will let users get a free XBox 360 unit with every purchase or renewal of a Windows Phone 7 handset. Telus presently carries HTC 7 Surround and LG Optimus 7 and buying one of these devices along with a fresh subscription or renewal of an existing plan will win you an XBox 360.
There doesn’t seem to be any fine print here though we just assume it to be a case of trying to woo the customers to handsets that may not have reached their targeted sale numbers. In case you are interested, do remember that this offer ends December 19th. And if you did not realize, it will also sign you up for a 3 year contract with Telus. Head over to the Telus website to learn more.
Looks like AT&T wants to do away with all of their Xperia X10 inventory before the end of this year. The carrier has announced a new promotional offer that lets users win a free Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 phone for every contracted unit they purchase. This buy-one, get-one-free offer is set to run until the end of this year.
The offer is also being promoted through Sony Ericsson‘s Twitter account where a company representative has written,
It doesn’t get better than this – buy an Xperia™ #X10 at @ATT (until Jan 1, 2011) and get one #FREE!
While this is a nice deal if you are looking to gift one of your kin with an Xperia, it is still not as good as the alternate offer from Best Buy that is currently on. You may recall the Best Buy free smartphone offer that gives users a chance to buy one of several phones – including Xperia X10 – at $0, provided customers sign up for a 2 year contract.
So now that you have a choice, you can decide which one is best suited for your needs.

The promotion begins on December 4 and shall run through the week till December 11. The deal is only applicable on new units and not on the refurbished phones and in case it wasn’t obvious enough – you need to sign up for a new two year contract to be eligible for the deal.
The offer details are not over yet. There are more attractive offerings to be had if you already own an iPhone 3G or 3GS unit. Radio Shack has launched a new “Trade and Save” offer that will credit you with $75 and $125 respectively when you trade in one of these devices in return for a new purchase. That means, if you trade in an iPhone 3GS, you can buy a new 16GB iPhone 4 for as low as $24.99 while the 32GB variant will cost you $124.99.
Of course, it goes without saying that these devices that are traded in need to be in working condition and cannot act like bricks.

Of course, this will still require you to sign up for a contract period. But if you are looking at saving those $200 odd bucks, this is definitely a good option.
Most of the devices on offer at the moment are Android phones. Best Buy makes special mention of Droid Incredible, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, LG Optimus S and LG Optimus T in their release. If you want to check out the deal for today, you can also check out their website here.
