Blizzard has confirmed the development of a new MMO game named Titan. The company’s president Mike Morhaime has said that he hopes this game will perform at par with its already existing critically acclaimed game, “World of Warcraft”. Lots of rumours about this game has existed ever since the MMO Gaming site published it claiming to be a Blizzard product. The product documentation mentioned the game to release in the fourth quarter of 2014.
Initially Blizzard refused to confirm the authenticity of the schedule which originated from its Chinese subsidiary till it finally became clear at Spike TV`s VGA award ceremony where Destructoid asked the WoW (World of Warcraft ) executive producer Frank Pearce about the games existence and confirmed its development.
“Titan is… the media is not meant to know anything about that. It’s our next gen MMO and we’ve only started talking about it in a limited fashion because we want to leverage the fact that we’re working on something like that for the purpose of recruiting – getting some of the best talent in the industry on that.”
Pearce did not provide any in depth information on the games development and hardly revealed any information regarding the progress. However Blizzard’s president, Mike Morhaime had an open talk about the games existence at the company in October this year. He had said,
“We are working on a second MMO. We’re thinking of it as sort of a next-generation MMO. It’s not a sequel to World of Warcraft – we want to do something a bit different.
We’re not trying to replace World of Warcraft. We think that World of Warcraft can continue co-existing with our new MMO and some people might prefer the new one, some people might still prefer to play World of Warcraft.”
We think you can go in different directions and still have a great massively multiplayer experience and we want to sort of experiment with what that might look like.”
