The power and potential of augmented reality in our everyday lifestyle has always been intriguing. We have mobile applications that only require you to point at landmarks to get you real-time information about the place from the internet. The potential use cases are vast.
Now, in some sort of a world’s first, Munich based lifestyle magazine – Sueddeutsche Zeitung has brought a supplement for its August 20 edition that is completely enhanced with augmented reality. The AR technology is built in partnership with Metaio, the developer of the Augmented Reality browser Junaio.
As an example of what’s on offer, the magazine says that the coverpage of the magazine shows a TV personality, Sandra Maischberger, with a palm covering her face. However, pointing the iPhone camera over the magazine cover will show her smiling at the camera. Similarly, the magazine also contains an “interview without words” and other features enhanced by Augmented Reality.
