T-Mobile Samsung Vibrant Launch On July 15 To Take On Droid-X?

T-Mobile may be launching their new Android powered smartphone – Samsung Vibrant – a week earlier than previously though. Earlier speculations pointed to July 21 as the most tentative date for launch of the 4.0-inches display smartphone with a super AMOLED display.

However, folks at TmoNews have now caught hold of a few confidential documents that point out to a July 15 release. The Samsung Vibrant has lots of interesting specs like a 5-Megapixel camera, 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird processor and several entertainment based applications like the full-length version of Avatar movie.

While these are without doubt some interesting features, they are not exactly compelling enough to force the user to defer their purchase of Droid-X. Consequently, I feel that this move is solely in a bid to prevent an exodus of T-Mobile customers to Verizon when Motorola Droid-X launches next week.

  1. I agree this is a (desperate) attempt by T-Mobile to stop a large chunk of their customers from jumping ship to Verizon for the Droid X. Can’t blame them, they are trying to hold onto their customers, not sure this phone is going to be much competition though..
