Engadget had caught up with Rohan Shravan from Notion Ink on the sidelines of the Consumer Electronics Show for a quick chat where Shravan gave some interesting bits of info about the Pixel Qi and LCD variants of Adam. According to him, the Pixel Qi Adam models contributed to 30% of all pre-orders. He further points out that this in no way was a measure of the popularity of the variant. Instead, the company had issues with procuring enough units of Pixel Qi displays which is itself manufactured by a start up company.
Shravan also talked about the battery life of an LCD Adam in comparison to a Pixel Qi variant. He expects an average LCD Adam user to see a battery life of between 10 and 14 hours. Pixel Qi Adam users can see an extra 1-1.5 hours on battery. Shravan attributes the extra power saving to the backlight being turned off on a Pixel Qi model and also because of an ambient light sensor that automatically turns displays off to save power.
