Nokia is learned to be working on a bicycle charger kit that will offer an easy way out for people in locations where power is unreliable to be able to effectively charge their Nokia handsets on the move. The eco-friendly method will make use of a dynamo to convert the mechanical energy from the bicycle to electrical energy for the Nokia handset. The accessory is set to launch in late 2010.
While this is no doubt a novel method, I have doubts regarding its success. Countries where this accessory is much needed are also places where theft is common. And it looks unreasonable to expect mobile phone owners to leave such a kit on their bicycle while they are parked outside. What is needed is a more detachable model for use when needed.
