Sega has announced a new partnership with United Kingdom based Imagination Technologies to provide a “very high-tech image of the next generation console”. This announcement has triggered rumors that Sega is in the process of building a new generation gaming console that can finally offer a fourth alternative to gamers who have by now been drawn up only to consoles from Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo.
Sega’s earlier ambitions to penetrate the game console market was not entirely successful with the Sega Dreamcast not faring well. The latest speculations could thus imply that the company is working on some real new technology and games that can provide the big three a run for their money.
Having said that, these are still speculations at this point and it will be interesting to see if something actually comes off this.
