How To Root Samsung Galaxy S, Captivate & Vibrant

The Samsung Galaxy S is known by two other names – AT&T Captivate and T-Mobile Vibrant in the American market. If you own any of these three Android phones, rooting them is now possible thanks to the folks at Samdroid.

Before you proceed, do note that standard disclaimers apply – You lose your warranty and also may end up bricking your Android device. So, be forewarned.

Here is a walk-through of how you should proceed.
Step 1 : Download the file by clicking here.

Step 2 : Transfer the to your mobile phone’s SD card

Step 3 : Enter the following code

adb reboot recovery

Step 4 : You will now be taken to the Recovery menu. Here, select the apply option. You can use the Volume-down button and Home key to navigate

Step 5 : Your Samsung Galaxy S will now reboot. Once done, you are done. You can access the root as super user.

To install busybox utils, go to terminal and enter
busybox –install -s /system/xbin

well i downloaded the update and followed the stept but when i sellect apply dosen’t work. it was like:

Can’t open… instalation aborted…

what can i do?
