For long AMD has played a secondary role in the computer chip manufacturing market behind leader, Intel. Last year, over 40 laptop models were integrated with AMD designed chip. This number is expected to soar high as the company is revealed to be launching its chip on over 109 new laptop models launching in the next few months could be incorporating chips from AMD.
The company has had mixed success in the markets so far. The company’s stock has fallen by 14.57% since the beginning of this; at a time when the stocks of Intel saw a rise by 5.44%. However, the company saw a rebound as the shares more than doubled to reach $8.27 on Thursday.
AMD is revealed to be focusing at the consumer segment to target the booming PC sales market for its future growth.[via Reuters]
