Smartbook Surfer Review Of Features And Price In Germany

The Smartbook Surfer is an Android tablet that is expected to create quite a wave in the German tech market in the next few days. Specs-wise, it is not too different from the recent GenTouch 78 that was debuted by Augen for the American customers. The Smartbook Surfer integrates a lineup of impressive hardware features with a price that is very much on the affordable side.

Let me elaborate more on the technical features. Firstly, this is an Android 2.1 tablet that comes equipped with a 7-inches large display that packs a good 800×400 pixels. The processor speed is not state-of-the-art but at 720MHz, the Telechips TTC8902 should work for most of the users. Other hardware specs include a 256MB DDR2 RAM, 2GB internal flash storage, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, miniSD card slot, webcam, GPS and USB ports. The Smartbook Surfer also contains a HDMI output for 1080p high definition video output. Battery life should be good, if not excellent.

The new Android tablet is already on sale in Germany at a price of €179. That’s about $234.

I have become a huge fan of HTC products lately, more so with the launch of products like the EVO 4G. Another HTC product that I have been following, though it’s not quite in the same league as the EVO, is the Wildfire. I had discussed the technical specifications of this Android device a few months back – The HTC Wildfire handset is an Android 2.1 handset that is powered by features such as a 528MHz processor, a 348MB RAM and a 512MB ROM. Other features include a 3.2-inches capacitive touchscreen, a 5-megapixel camera, USB port, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The HTC Wildfire is now available on stores in India. The device is appropriately priced at Rs. 16,590 ($359). Now, if you are a Reliance subscriber, here’s something exciting. The Taiwanese manufacturer has tied up with Reliance to offer 500MB of free data per month (for six months) to all subscribers who upgrade to the new Wildfire.

Touchscreen phones are gaining currency even in the developing world and with these markets being highly sensitive to prices, Samsung has “championed” the cause of low-cost touchscreen phones in countries like India with the new Samsung Champ. The device features a 2.4-inches QVGA touchscreen display, 1.3-Megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.1, FM Radio, media player, dual speakers with 3D sound effects, 3.5 mm headset jacks and a 1000maAh battery that can offer a good 12 hours of talktime. The internal storage is just 30MB, but this can be expanded further with microSD cards.

The Samsung Champ comes in a few color variations – black, brown, white and pink. And at Rs. 4000, the price is extremely affordable to the Indian audience. That is close to $86.

The highlight of the unit is its touchscreen functionalities since I am not aware of too many touchscreen handsets at this price. That could mean Samsung is in for some serious business and expect them to sell off quite a few units at this price.

Stealth LPC-100 Nettop Features Reviewed

Stealth has come up with its new LPC-100 nettop which the company claims is “Small Enough to Fit in Your Hand Yet Outperforms Most Desktop and Mobile Computers Available Today”. Well, the second part of the claim has to be tested, but from what we see, the size part is definitely not false. The new nettop device is just marginally larger than your smartphone and is one of the smallest products in its category.

So what does the new LPC-100 got to offer? Well, the base model features a 1.9GHz dual-core Celeron T3100 that is upgradeable to a 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo T8400 or the 2.53GHz T9100. Besides this, you also have a couple of DDR3 SODIMM slots that offer a maximum internal memory of 4GB. Storage capacity on the nettop can go as high as 160GB-500GB. Other features on the Stealth LPC-100 include USB ports, serial ports, DVI/VGA output and a microphone and headset connections.

The power consumption of LPC-100 is pretty low and at 12 volts, you can actually fit it onto your car. The roadblock is however the price. The base model of Stealth LPC-100 costs a good $995. But if you are still interested, hop over to Stealth.com website to check out more.
