The netbook lid comes in two colors – Flame Purple and Vibrant Gold. Additionally, the netbook also comes with a set of stickers that will allow users to customize their netbook lid to their liking. Microsoft XBox 360 4GB Expandable Up to 250GB?

As you know, the new Microsoft XBox 360 4GB version shall be available in stores in the US starting August 3 at a price of $199.99. A few of our readers had complained that this could be a bad decision considering that 4GB literally amounts to nothing. Reader, Steve Mashuki had speculated

“I think they changed this way because a lot people are not buying games.”

Well, that is apparently so. And now, if rumors are true, it could also be that Microsoft is looking at extracting more money from gamers through the sale of hardware. A photo of an upcoming 4GB Xbox 360 posted on a gaming website  points out the possibility for users to separately purchase a 250GB hard drive that can be connected to the 4GB console for additional space. I should point out that this is a rumor at this point and has to be taken with a grain of salt. But then, we all realize that 4GB for a graphics-rich gaming console is meaningless without the ability to store more games and so such an option had to eventually be brought in, right?

If the total worth of a company was to be divided among every employee, how much each person receive? With an amazingly huge cash in its coffers, it is no wonder that Google leads the pack in the cash per employee list. According to a study by the Silicon Alley Insider, every employee in Google is worth a whopping $1.4 million. Now compare this number with the worth of these employees just a couple of years back in 2008 when the value stood at $210,000 per employee!

Other companies in the top five list include Apple, Microsoft, Yahoo and Intel and this is the cash per employee for these companies.

Google : $1.38 million
Apple : $600,000
Microsoft : $410,000
Yahoo : $200,000
Intel : $170,000

The study notes a Google employee count of 21,805. Now, you can do the math for the company’s total worth.

It’s a no-brainer to say that Google leads the way by a huge margin in the search engine rankings. But considering that the mobile internet took off relatively later, one may have imagined that the rival search engines may have been able to compete more effectively against the big G on the mobile front.

Not so, according to a recent study published by Pingdom. According to their most recent report, Google dominates the mobile search engine market much more heavily than it does on the web front. Quite revealingly, less than 2% of mobile internet users make use of alternate search engines while that number is more than 9% in the case of web.

So how do the different players fare in the two markets? We will find out.

Web Search Engine Market
Google : 90.57%
Yahoo : 3.91%
Bing : 3.74%
Others : 1.78%

Mobile Search Engine Market
Google : 98.29%
Yahoo : 0.81%
Bing : 0.46%
Others : 0.46%

Yes you can. But only if you live in Canada. Much to the envy of Apple customers around the world, Canadian carrier Rogers has announced a new data sharing option that will allow iPhone 4 customers to share their data plan with their iPad. Accordingly, if you are on the 6GB data plan, you can now share your plan between your iPhone 4 and iPad by paying an additional monthly fee of $20. However, a big caveat here – This data sharing option is presently on a limited period trial and will end on September 30. The $20 fee will exclude the government’s regulatory recovery fee.

If this sounds awesome, check out the other deal from Bell Canada. The Rogers rival carrier has announced a largely similar offer, except that the iPad data sharing option is available at only $10 a month.

Technically, this is not too different from what AT&T offers with its tethering functionality. American iUsers may note that Ma Bell offers tethering at an additional cost of $20 per month to their Data Pro subscirbers. However, this tethering functionality is not compatible with the iPad.

Nevertheless, this is a good start and hope more carriers start offering such data sharing services (at little to no monthly fee of course)

Facebook has been crossing one milestone after another in the past few months. The company announced the registration of the network’s 500 millionth member earlier this month and according to a recent estimate by Inside Facebook, the world’s largest social networking service could make as much as $1.1 billion in 2010.

Looking at the fast growth over the past few months and also the uncertainty that exists in the longer term – MySpace dropped down the cliff in less than two years time – it was popularly speculated that Facebook may choose to file for an IPO by next year.

However, according to a recent revelation on Bloomberg, Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and CEO of Facebook may have decided to put off the company’s initial public offering at the stock markets by at least a year. The reason, it is believed, is to ensure that the company earns more users and revenues without the additional scrutiny that comes with going public.

With revenues of $1.1 billion, that growth may be possible. However, the company may also be losing out on building a much more robust cash chest by delaying the IPO filing. With Google rumored to be working on a social networking rival, there are external threats to Facebook as well in the long term. I would have personally wanted Facebook to go for an IPO sooner. What do you think?
