The greenpoisOn tool for Verizon iPhone 4 is now out and is working absolutely fine with no hassles whatsoever. Despite only a few people managing to get their hands on the new Verizon iPhone 4, Apple dev teams have come out with the jailbreaking tool. The release of the new jailbreaking tool was posted on Twitter by the user Lunch8ox. Although, there was an initial jailbreaking tool from greenpoisOn last week, there were a few bugs that were yet to be fixed as it posed some problems. But, the new jailbreaking tool is working wonderfully well.
The new jailbreaking tool is called the Release candidate 5.4 and for now, this is only available for Mac users. Although, jailbreaking is not considered a crime any more, it is important to follow the instructions promptly in order to avoid any unwanted consequences.
It is better if Verizon users might want to wait a little longer before jailbreaking, just in case.
The Verizon iPhone 4 sales which were closed on the Apple online store has now been relaunched yesterday midnight again. The new iPhone 4 sale is now back online with Apple taking down its “be back soon notice”. This latest iPhone is now available through both Verizon and AT&T.
US customers of the new Apple iPhone 4 can now avail the phone through both AT&T and Verizon on the online store with Apple redirecting the customers to the respective sites for packages. While AT&T website says that the phone would be shipped in 24 hours, Verizon has stated that the shipment for new customers would only start on or after 18th of February. Also, verizon is not offering any store pick up option after an online sale and as of now it is only the black iPhone 4 that is being sold. No sign of the coveted white iPhone 4 yet.
The jailbreak for Verizon iPhone 4 is available. Its only been a couple of days that Verizon customers are receiving their pre-ordered iphone 4, that a jailbreak for the same has been released by the Chronic Dev team. This new release is an update to Dev team’s own GreenPoison. This update is available to all the users who are using the iOS version 4.2.6 on their phones which are of course the new Verizon iPhone 4 instruments.
As a matter of fact, iOS 4.3 release which is expected any time this month, is supposedly going to put an end to jailbreaking on iPhones. So any one who wishes to jailbreak their iPhone, now is the time. The previous version which was released on Cydia had encountered some problems but the new release seems to be working fine according to the Dev team.
An analyst who has dissected the new iphone 4 from Verizon has suggested that the components found in the phone suggest that Apple can make a universal phone which can be used to run on any network. In order to make the iPhone available on Verizon, Apple has actually used a different cell chip along with an alteration in the hardware of the phone by the manufacturing company. This was revealed by Apple’s Chief Operating Officer, Steve Coo at a recent event.
As of now, the iPhone can only work on Verizon Wireless, but the Qualcomm chips used in the phone suggest that the phone can be used on any other cellular network like the AT&T, T-Mobile et. Also, the Qualcomm component in the iPhone is similar to Verizon’s Droid Pro which is used by traveller’s allowing them to change sim cards based on the country they are in.
May be iPhone 5 is going to be the universal model.
The new iPhone 4 that Apple is designing for Verizon could have both CDMA and GSM chips integrated into the phone. According to iSuppli, the new iPhone 4 apparently has a Qualcomm MDM6600, meaning the phone can support both CDMA nad GSM features. Also, changing will be the antenna design of the phone which is important for the CDMA technology that is used on the phone. The antenna is going to be hidden in the new model which invariably would give the Verzon iPhone 4 the edge over its AT&T counterpart. Qualcomm’s MDM6000 integrated chip also make the GPS integrated thus eliminating the need for a separate GPS component. If this were to be true, the price of the new phone should also drop.
Dedicated antenna tests are yet to be performed to check the performance of the Verizon iPhone 4 antenna over its AT&T counterpart.
The Greenpoison RC5 iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak which was earlier available only for Mac users has now a Windows release as well. This update for Windows has been released by the Dev team and is available on the net for download. This new untethered jailbreak can be used for jailbreaking the Apple iPod touch, iPad and the iPhone. This windows release of the jailbreak was an eagerly awaited one by many users and also the steps for jailbreaking are similar to the one that we got to see on MAC. iPhone 3GS, iPad and all iPod touches can be jailbroken with this new untethered update for Windows.
According to the Dev team this new untethered jailbreak is completely safe to use and is also hassle free. The user would not find it complicated as all the steps involved with jailbreaking are inbuilt.
So what, if Android is the most popular phone OS in the world? Apple has reportedly manufactured 2 million iPhones for its launch on Verizon. Interestingly, almost one-third of these units have been allocated to customers who would be pre-ordering online. And according to a few reports from market sources, Verizon pre-order sales are likely to exceed that of AT&T pre-order sales of iPhone 4 last year. If the reports are to be believed, around 700,000 customers have ordered their iPhones online due to which the pre-ordering was ceased only within 17 hours.
AT&T sold around 600,000 units last year on their first day which has now been comfortably crossed by Verizon Wireless. Also, last year, within the first three days, Apple sold around 1.7 million units of the iPhone 4 which was reported by Steve Jobs himself as the most successful product launch ever done by Apple.
2 million already, beware Android!
Yes, within 17 hours, Verizon closed its on pre-ordering option on their online store owing to the huge response from customers. According to reports, almost 700,000 users could be awaiting the release of their new iPhones from Verizon. Verizon has reported that this is their biggest and the most successful first day sale of any product in the company’s history. Verizon wireless has also reported that just within the first two hours of the sale itself, previous first day sales records of the store were broken.
When AT&T launched the iPhone 4 last year, the launch inventory was around 1.7 million units. Verizon may well have a launch inventory of 2 million units this year according to the reports of AppleInsider. Well, for now 700,00 is the estimated number of the online pre-orders, but looking at the record breaking sales this could very well be wrong.
The reports from Patently Apple, an Apple Inc. oriented blog reveal that Apple has patented two unique objects for the iPad and their touch devices. According to the reports, Apple’s R&D department at Cupertino, California has come up with these new ideas and Apple has readily patented them.
There are lots of third party developed stands that are being sold for the iPad. But it seems, Apple have now come up with their own innovative built in stand for their tablet. This stand that can be attached to the tablet’s back can supposedly hold the tablet in two positions – one to make it stand and the other to lay it down while being able to use it as a keyboard. The next patent is for a stylus or a pen for the touch devices. Until now, these devices have only been finger specific. But now, the new pen will give a more precise touch experience.
We are to see though, if these patented devices will ever come out. Fingers crossed.
Apple’s new release of iOS 4.3 Beta apparently has lots more to add to Apple’s merchandise – iPhone, Ipad and iPod touch. The iOS SDK 4.3 which is now available for download has added more features like the HTTP live streaming statistics, fullscreen banners on iAd. Also, Airplay can be used to stream videos on Apple TV. Macnotes.de has also reported (which for now are only rumors) that Apple is going to be conducting a special media event next week to detail the features of iOS 4.3. It is also rumored that iPad 2 will be unveiled at the same event.
With Android Honeycomb now looming, Apple is trying its best to maintain its firm hold on the tablet market. Google’s Android OS has already been named the most popular phone OS in the world overtaking Nokia’s Symbian and leaving Apple’s iOS in the third place.
