iPhone Not Connecting To Bluetooth After iOS 5 Upgrade?

A number of iPhone users have been writing in on the Apple support forums that they are having trouble connecting to Bluetooth devices after upgrading to the new iOS 5 operating system. What happens typically is that the iPhone may not be displaying the Bluetooth icon on the top of the screen even though you have the Bluetooth option turned on in the Settings option. Also, the iPhone may refuse to recognize any other Bluetooth enabled devices in the vicinity which means you may not be able to connect to any other device.

There is a simple fix for this though. What you need to do is go to Settings -> General -> Bluetooth  and turn the option Off and then turn On again one more time. Your iPhone will start recognizing Bluetooth enabled devices once again. So how frequently will you see this problem? Every time you restart your iPhone. In any case, this is a major irritant for those of you who frequently connect your iPhones to Bluetooth devices. And if you own a new iPhone 4S that has battery issues as well, good luck since you will also have to deal with the phone conking out every now and then.

Let’s hope Apple fixes this issue soon in the next update.

Apple Documents The Differences Between GSM and CDMA iPhone 4

For long now, Apple has been doing only GSM versions of the iPhone. But, the release of Verizon iPhone 4 has seen the advent of the CDMA iPhone 4. In order clear user’s confusions about the differences between GSM and CDMA devices, Apple has now come up with a document detailing the differences in the functionalities of the two devices.

The first and foremost difference between the two devices is with regards to call forwarding, caller ID and call waiting. On the GSM handsets, these features can be turned on or off by going to the Settings panel, while on the CDMA handsets, this has to be done by dialling in a number combination. Another difference is with regards to conference call. On the GSM sets, up to 5 people can connect via conference at once, while the CDMA set allows the numbers of only two users. Pausing a call is possible on the GSM handsets and there is no such option on the CDMA handsets.

Will iPhone 5 Have A Slide-Out Keyboard?

The latest rumor about the iPhone 5 is that Apple is testing a prototype with a keyboard which would apparently slide out. Apple is apparently testing three prototypes, one among which is one with the sliding keyboard. Well, if the rumor which is based on the news from a Taiwanese website were to be true, then Apple could be striking a huge blow at RIM Blackberry. Blackberry users have shown their disinterest in Apple iPhone just for the very fact that Apple lacks a keyboard. Now, if the keyboard were to come along on the iPhone 5, there is every chance that Blackberry would experience a further decline in its market share. The rumor about the prototype which was also tweeted mentions of a hidden keyboard that would slide out when required.

Other improvements in the upcoming iPhone 5 could be a 1GHz processor and better camera (could be 8.1 mega pixel camera) while keeping the rest of the features intact. Let us wait and see.
