Smartphones are getting better at capturing images. After Nokia unveiled its latest 12 megapixel N8 smartphone, Altek has gone a step ahead and have announced the new Altek Leo Android OS phone that captures 14 megapixel images from its camera. Trust me, this gadget here is actually a smartphone.
The Android 2.1 OS phone was demonstrated at this year’s CommunicAsia and is learned to be equipped with a Xenon flash and 3x optical zoom. A Froyo update is expected but we are not sure when it is expected. The device is scheduled to launch ahead of the holiday season this year at a price of $499.
Do note that the launch in Q4 2010 is only for China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Here is a video demo of the Altek Leo Android handset.[via CNET]
