It is a no-brainer that the number of internet users are on the rise, not just in UK, but globally. Refreshingly, a modest level of increase has been coming from the senior citizen population – those above the age of 65 years. According to a recent study conducted by Ofcom on UK Adult Media Literacy, internet users above 65 years have increased from being 6% of all internet users in UK to now constitute 8%. Small, yet significant.

Here is how the age distribution among adult internet users in UK was in 2005
16-24 : 19%
25-34 : 22%
35-44 : 26%
45-54 : 15%
55-64 : 12%
65+ : 6%

This is how the numbers stand in 2009
16-24 : 19%
25-34 : 18%
35-44 : 20%
45-54 : 15%
55-64 : 15%
65+ : 8%
