Here is a short 10 minute tutorial briefing you with instructions on obtaining your address book. This guide is applicable for phones that are supported by 4 American carriers namely AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon and are having an active service on their present phone along with a gmail account (not required for Verizon wireless subscribers.)

Verizon Wireless Phones :

Transferring from an existing Verizon to a Verizon iPhone 4 is almost effortless. Verizon has a free program called Backup Assistant, so just register on Verzion`s website, install and run the application on your old phone first followed by the iPhone 4

Step 1 :

Register for the Backup Assistant application.

Step 2 :

Install it on your phone through the Get It Now store which is for feature phones or the App store for smartphones.

Step 3 :

Now load the software, log in and start backing up your contacts.

Step 4 :

Next, turn off the Wi-Fi radio on your iPhone 4 first as the application works only over a cell connection. Open the app store and install VZ Contact Manager. Now run this program and keep following the onscreen instructions.

Sprint Phones:

To transfer contacts from a Sprint feature phone, you will require a Sprint Mobile Sync and a gmail account. For a Sprint smartphone, only Google Sync is enough.

For Sprint Feature Phones :

Step 1 :

Register for Sprint Mobile Sync.

Step 2 :

Activate the software on your phone by navigating to Main Menu>Settings>Contacts>Mobile Sync>Activate.

Step 3 :

Now log in to Sprint Mobile Sync from your desktop computer and export all your contacts as .CSV file

Step 4 :

Log in to your gmail account and import the .CSV file

Step 5 :

Now install and run Google Sync on your iPhone 4.

For Sprint Smartphones :

All you need to do is just install and run Google Sync on your old phone first followed by installing and running it later on your iPhone 4.

AT&T  Phones :

For phones serviced by AT&T, if its a smartphone, the entire transfer process is free whereas a feature phone will be costing you around $1.99 for AT&T Mobile Backup.

For AT&T Feature Phones :

Step 1 :

Navigate to AT&T`s Mobile Backup Web Site which will be sending a link to your phone for installing the software.

Step 2 :

Load Mobile Backup from your phone and backup all your contacts.

Step 3 :

Log on to AT&T Mobile Backup from your desktop computer and export the contacts as  a .CSV file.

Step 4 :

Now log in to your gmail account and import the .CSV file.

Step 5 :

Lastly, install and run Google Sync on your iPhone 4.

For AT&T Smartphones :

Step 1 :

Install and run Google Sync on your old phone followed by the iPhone 4.

T – Mobile Phones :

Once again, transferring contacts from a smartphone is simpler whereas the same procedure becomes a bit more complex for a feature phone. The companies free contact backing software restricts you from exporting your contacts, but there is still a way to tackle this situation.

For T – Mobile Feature Phones :

Step 1 :

There is a preloaded application called Mobile Backup. Just load it and select “One Time Sync”.

Step 2 :

From your desktop computer, log on to the Mobile Backup Website and follow these instructions for exporting your contacts to a .CSV file.

Step 3 :

Log in to your gmail account and import the .CSV file.

Step 4 :

Now install and run Google Sync on your iPhone 4.

For T – Mobile Smartphones :

Just install and run Google Sync on your smartphone followed by the iPhone 4.

Starting now, the Samsung Galaxy Tab on Sprint will be available at just $299 with a two year contract. If you are one of those looking to buy the device without a contract, you can do so at a price of $499. Interestingly, that is the price of ‘subsidized‘ Galaxy Tab at many other channels, including those at Verizon. Of course, you can wait and buy a more updated new hardware at a higher price. But if the entry level Galaxy Tab is something you are happy with, this discounted price should be ideal.

I do not know if this was all a planned leak, but it definitely appears to be so. We first got to know about the price of this new Android handset from a leaked Best Buy inventory snapshot. This was soon followed by a leak from the stables of Wal-Mart that gave us an idea about the tech specs that this device will come equipped with. And finally, the launch date was captured via a Radio Shack memo yesterday. That completes all the three retailers that the EVO Shift will be available on starting today.

The 4G-compatible launch also means we could be seeing the launch of a 3G variant earlier than that. Also, it is speculated that an LTE variant could be launching as we move into the latter half of the year. In any case, this tablet with dual core processors and a multitasking operating system should find popularity among Blackberry users.

The EVO Shift 4G will be carried by Sprint and will come with a 3.7″ capacitive touchscreen display, Android 2.2 OS and up to 32GB of microSD expansion. Other details include an 8-megapixel camera and up to 312 minutes of talktime and support for 4G WiMax.

From what we see, the HTC EVO Shift 4G could be priced on contract at a price of $149.99. That’s when you sign up with the carrier for two years. If you do not like contracts, then you can get a SIM-free version at a price of $549.99.

HTC EVO Shift 4G is pretty similar to the HTC EVO that is made its debut back in June this year. One crucial difference will be the availability of a physical keyboard on this upcoming device – something that definitely has a market still. The pricing seems appropriate though other important details about this phone are still missing. We will post about them as soon as there is information.

Folks at BGR have claimed that Sprint may be launching their new ZTE Peel iPod Touch case as early as next week. The iPod Touch casing that will also double up as a mobile  hotspot rendering unit will go on sale starting November 14 at Sprint stores in the United States. While the price of this casing itself is not known as yet, we have heard that the carrier could offer the network access at a price of $29.99 per month for up to 1 GB of data. That’s without a contract.

If the success of the Overdrive is anything to go by, Sprint could turn out to be successful here as well. Let’s see.

In an official statement from Sprint, the carrier has revealed that customers signing up a two year contract shall be able to get hold of a Galaxy Tab at a price of $399.99. Users signing up the 3G contract will have to shell out a minimum of $29.99 per month for data.

While the launch is scheduled for November 14, Sprint has however opened up their stores for pre-order. Starting today, you can walk into any Sprint store to make a reservation. Of course, online alternatives are also available and you can check out Sprint’s Galaxy Tab page for more information.

Now, presumably with the tests having been successfully completed, Sprint and Clearwire have come up with the official roll out dates of WiMax in these cities. Accordingly, New York City is expected to get the WiMax service first on November 1. This shall be followed by the service going live in Los Angeles on December 1 and in San Francisco by the end of December. It will be interesting to see how fast the networks turn out to be once they gain wide adoption.

Sprint, the carrier that will offer network services to HTC EVO has also been offering free activation to users moving to their network. This offer has however been limited up to October 18.

HTC EVO is without doubt one of the most impressive Android devices. It comes with a 4.3″ screen with a 800×400 capacitive touchscreen display, a 1GHz SnapDragon processor, an 8-Megapixel rear camera and another 1.3-Megapixel camera on the front.
