Apple Introduces Jailbreaking Detection Back

If you were just happy that you jailbroke your iPhone using the GreenpoisOn hack iOS 4.2.1 successfully, hang on. There’s a twist in the tale. Apple has apparently introduced a jailbreak detecting API on iOS 4.2.1 which is blocking jailbroken devices from opening ebooks. This inherent API which was supposedly dropped by Apple in iOS 4.0 has found its way back and is blocking the iBooks 1.2.1 app from reading purchased protected DRM content.

The following message is being showed on iOS 4.2.1 devices when trying to open protected DRM content -

“There is a problem with the configuration of your iPhone . Please restore with iTunes and reinstall iBooks.”

The hacker dev community is quite upset with this move from Apple and has criticised saying that it is beginning to attract many to dislike them. Jailbreaking has been deemed legal, so now we have to wait and see if Apple is going to be sued for not allowing purchased content on a jailbroken device.

How to Jailbreak Apple TV 2G With iOS 4.2.1 Greenpois0n RC6

Firslty, the things that you will require :

Now lets get started with the jailbreaking procedure :

Step 1 :

Firstly you have to make sure that you have updated your Apple TV to iOS 4.2.1 via iTunes and, if not then please check for the updates through the software update section in the Apple menu.

Step 2 :

Now launch GreenpoisOn RC6 and click on Yes when prompted for Apple TV 2G jailbreak.

Step 3 :

Next, follow the onscreen instructions to put the Apple TV 2G in DFU mode.

Connect your Apple TV via the micro-USB cable leaving the power disconnected, then simultaneously hold the MENU and PLAY/PAUSE buttons for 7 seconds to put it in DFU mode.

Step 4 :

Once in DFU mode, click on the Jailbreak Button on GreenpoisOn RC6 and sit back and relax till it completes the entire jailbreaking process.

This is it. You have now jailbroken Apple TV 2G on iOS 4.2.1.

Common GrenpoisOn Jailbreak For iPhone 4, iPad 2 and Verizon iPhone 4

The new greenpoisOn jailbreaking, RC5.4 tool can apparently be used to jailbreak the iphone 4, Verzon iPhone 4 and the iPad 2 says the developers team of greenpoisOn. This new untethered jailbreaking tool is the successor to iOS 4.2.1 jailbreaking tool that was developed by the same team. The earlier jailbreaking tool was able to jailbreak the iPhone 3G and iPhone 4 along with the first iPad and the third generation iPod Touch. When compared to the Pwnage tool which was also released a couple of days ago, this RC5.4 is untethered and has also been tested on the new Verizon iPhone 4.2.6 iOS update and it has worked successfully.

Also, this greenpoisOn tool is comes for all the platforms viz. Mac, Windows and Linux, thus allowing the users of any operating system to jailbreak their phones.

The greenpoisOn tool for Verizon iPhone 4 is now out and is working absolutely fine with no hassles whatsoever. Despite only a few people managing to get their hands on the new Verizon iPhone 4, Apple dev teams have come out with the jailbreaking tool. The release of the new jailbreaking tool was posted on Twitter by the user Lunch8ox. Although, there was an initial jailbreaking tool from greenpoisOn last week, there were a few bugs that were yet to be fixed as it posed some problems. But, the new jailbreaking tool is working wonderfully well.

The new jailbreaking tool is called the Release candidate 5.4 and for now, this is only available for Mac users. Although, jailbreaking is not considered a crime any more, it is important to follow the instructions promptly in order to avoid any unwanted consequences.

It is better if Verizon users might want to wait a little longer before jailbreaking, just in case.

Verizon iPhone 4 Successfully Jailbroken

The jailbreak for Verizon iPhone 4 is available. Its only been a couple of days that Verizon customers are receiving their pre-ordered iphone 4, that a jailbreak for the same has been released by the Chronic Dev team. This new release is an update to Dev team’s own GreenPoison. This update is available to all the users who are using the iOS version 4.2.6 on their phones which are of course the new Verizon iPhone 4 instruments.

As a matter of fact, iOS 4.3 release which is expected any time this month, is supposedly going to put an end to jailbreaking on iPhones. So any one who wishes to jailbreak their iPhone, now is the time. The previous version which was released on Cydia had encountered some problems but the new release seems to be working fine according to the Dev team.

iOS 4.2.1 Jailbreak Now Available For Windows Users

The Greenpoison RC5 iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak which was earlier available only for Mac users has now a Windows release as well. This update for Windows has been released by the Dev team and is available on the net for download. This new untethered jailbreak can be used for jailbreaking the Apple iPod touch, iPad and the iPhone. This windows release of the jailbreak was an eagerly awaited one by many users and also the steps for jailbreaking are similar to the one that we got to see on MAC. iPhone 3GS, iPad and all iPod touches can be jailbroken with this new untethered update for Windows.

According to the Dev team this new untethered jailbreak is completely safe to use and is also hassle free. The user would not find it complicated as all the steps involved with jailbreaking are inbuilt.

With Jailbreakme being prevented by Apple through a software update, the Dev Team is working hard to bring out an untethered jailbreak not only for iOS 4.2.1, but also for all the future iDevices like iPad 2 and the iPhone 5. An untethered jailbreak would help users to hack into iDevices without the need of a PC.

While the iPhone Dev team is working on a RedsnOw untethered jailbreak, the Chronic Dev team is working on a GreenpoisOn jailbreak. A teaser that showed the successful working of the GreenpoisOn hack on an iPad and iPhone 4 was also recently posted. The best part about these untethered hacks is the easy to use interface that is going to be offered to the users.

With the legalization of these jailbreaks, Apple is finding it tough to keep a lid on these hacks.

Hactivate iPhone 4 On iOS 4.1 With Upcoming GreenPois0n Tool [Updated]

We have already heard from the iPhone Dev team about the upcoming version of GreenPois0n that will let users permanently jailbreak their iDevice thanks to the newly discovered SHAtter bootrom exploit. It now appears that this tool can do much more than just jailbreaking. In a recently posted tweet, Joshua Hill, also known as Posixninja in the jailbreakers’ community, has revealed that the upcoming Greenpoison tool should also permit hacktivation; that is the ability to skip the iTunes activation screen and use the phone with any SIM.

The process is incomplete without unlocking your iPhone though and as it has already been reported, the users who are on the latest 05.14.02 baseband shall not be able to unlock their iDevices until a newer version of Ultrasn0w is released. Now that is going to take some more time.
