iTunes 10 Aborting iPad Update Searches With Error

If you have downloaded Apple’s latest iTunes 10 multimedia software, you are likely to see some errors while you plug in your iPad to the device. Many users have been complaining that searching for updates on iTunes 10 with a plugged-in iPad results in a discontinuation of the search along with an error message 1631 that reads, “iTunes was unable to search for updates for the network operator settings for your iPhone.

It is either a typo with the error message or it is that the iTunes is unable to differentiate an iPhone from an iPad. Either way, the error is not very significant at the moment considering that the next iPad update is not expected before November of this year. Nevertheless, this is anotherĀ embarrassing bug that has afflicted Apple products in recent times.

Are you seeing similar bug at your end? Do let us know if you were able to find a fix.

Not seeing this issue on my machine at all. Running iTunes 10 on a macbook pro and a 64gb iPad. Are you running on Windows?.

Otherwise I would see the fix as let the sync run and then do your searches…

I received this error yesterday when I tried to update my iPad (32GB Wifi and 3G) in iTunes 10. The error keeps returning, even after I restarted my Mac Book Pro.

So far I haven’t found a solution. Hope it’s a bug Apple fixes before the next update to iPad in november.

I also updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 4.1 without any problems.
