VLC Player App For iPad Submitted To App Store

Applidium, a Paris based developer of iPhone applications have announced the submission of their latest iPad app that could help bring the VLC player to the iPad. VLC is an open source media playing format that is compatible with a vast majority of media applications and hence is popular among users. However, Apple’s closely guarded iOS platform does not support the VLC player format as yet and hence the new iOS app could bridge this gap.

However, we will have to wait and see if the new app will be approved. Apple has always been known to be finical when it comes to approving apps that perform tasks that the closed environment does not allow. Anyway, considering that the App review staff had recently approved controversial browser apps like Opera (that technically duplicated the native Mobile Safari app), it will be interesting to see if this new app will make it through.

I’m sure this VLC player on iPad is going to give great multi media experience.. for the record it’s the best multimedia player I have found so far for Windows.. One major advantage is it can play most of the video format and also play broken video files….
