StarBucks, the Seattle based coffeehouse has announced the release of its new StarBucks Card application for Blackberry phones. This is the second mobile platform for which a mobile app is released by the company. Last September, the company announced its first iPhone app by the same name.

The app works similar to a pre-paid card and can be downloaded free of cost. While it does not cost anything to download, users will however need to refill their app with money in order to begin using the app as an alternative to paper money while visiting a StarBucks joint. Besides offering an alternate payment channel, the StarBucks Card app also lets users locate nearby StarBucks joints, check for rewards, etc.

Listen To Free Internet Radio On Android With TuneIn Radio App

Written on September 6th, 2010 | 0 Comments

If you are an Android phone user who is crazy about internet radio, chances are that you are already aware of the $1.99 RadioTime app that is available on the Android marketplace. Now, if you think spending two bucks for an Internet radio Android app is not worth it, then RadioTime has launched an alternative service that will offer a free version of the same.

The new TuneIn Radio Android app will let you search for internet radio stations by location or genre and tap away to start listening. The app does not require users to create a RadioTime app. However, since this is a free version, the app is supported by ads and so do not expect the same clutter-free interface of the original RadioTime app.

The app has some interesting pointers to note. Firstly, if you have a RadioTime login, you can use it to sync up your presets so that they can managed from the RadioTime website instead of from the app. Secondly, the app can also pull your location to suggest you locally relevant radio stations. There are over 40,000 streams from different genre available and hence expect a good assortment of listings.

Curious to check out. Use the QR code below to get started.

Samsung Galaxy Tab To Feature Super TFT Display

Written on September 6th, 2010 | 0 Comments

A lot of people anticipated the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab to feature a Super AMOLED display in the run up to its official announcement. Though this was a pretty remote possibility considering the extremely high costs involved, the company’s announcement that the device will not feature a Super AMOLED display has come as a disappointment to many. However, according to Samsung executives, while the tablet may not feature Super AMOLED, the technology is still close. In a statement, they have noted that the upcoming Android tablet computer will come equipped with a Super TFT display that has been built alongside Super AMOLED to offer better battery performance and a savings in cost.

Is this merely a marketing gimmick? Is Super TFT really something new? We’ll not know. Nevertheless, we do hope the new tablet computer will have something exciting in store for us.

Official List Of Accessories For Samsung Galaxy Tab Announced

Written on September 3rd, 2010 | 0 Comments

Samsung removed the wraps on the much touted Galaxy Tab Android tablet in Berlin yesterday. Initial reviews about the new 7″ device have been extremely exciting and I personally can’t wait to get hold of this new gadget. Samsung has now published the list of accessories that will go with the tablet on the official Galaxy Tab website.

There are three things that will come as part of the box – an adapter, a data cable and a black stereo headet. Besides this, there are several optional accessories that will be available from the official website. It is likely that this list is expanded moving forward. But at present, here is a list of accessories

  • Leather pouch – Available in brown and black colors
  • Keyboard dock – Similar to the one available with the iPad
  • Desktop Dock
  • Stylus – Not really necessary for such a touch-responsive screen. But this will probably be useful to those on the move
  • Vehicle Dock
  • TV-Out cable – Presumably an HDMI dock that will come with an HDMI port on one side to let you output video to TV
  • Car Charger
  • Leather Book Cover
  • Stereo head set – In white

Check out the list on the Samsung Galaxy Tab website here.

Disabling Priority Inbox In Gmail

Written on September 3rd, 2010 | 0 Comments

Google recently introduced a new feature on Gmail – Priority Inbox. The feature is pretty useful for those of you who have several hundreds of unread email and always find it difficult to sort through the list to check out the important messages. Google started rolling out the feature earlier this week and the Priority Inbox is now available on all the Gmail accounts.

However, for those users who do not get too many emails or who check unread mails fairly frequently, the new feature does not bring too much value. In fact, I found the service quite distracting. If you too find it the same way and are looking to disable the functionality, follow these simple straight-forward steps to disable Priority inbox in your Gmail account.

1. Click Settings on the top right hand side on your Gmail account

2. Click Priority Inbox

3. Select ‘Do not show Priority Inbox‘ and save the changes

BenQ nReader R100 Android Tablet Features Reviewed

Written on September 3rd, 2010 | 0 Comments

Yet another peripherals manufacturer joins the tablet game. BenQ, the Taiwanese manufacturer known better for their laptops, monitors and projectors have announced their new Android tablet – the BenQ nReader R100.

The specifications are not something out of the ordinary. This Android 2.2 device will feature a 10.1″ resistive touchscreen display at 1024×600 pixel resolution and will run on a 667MHz Samsung ARM-based CPU. There are ports to let you output HDMI video content and support for Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity are available as well. In addition to this, the device will also come pre-installed with a custom media software that will let you read ebooks, play games, music and movies.

BenQ nReader R100

No price is announced, but I think the 667MHz processor and a resistive touch screen are definite deal breakers. Though a cheap tablet running Android 2.2 is definitely going to be welcome, there is enough competition in this space for BenQ to stay a cut above the rest. What do you think?

Acer Aspire One Happy Review Of Features

Acer has launched a new Aspire One netbook. Before you get excited, you must note that this is merely a rebranded version of the Acer Aspire One D255 that I had written about recently. However, it comes in some attractive colors and is definitely worth checking out.

Like the AOD255, the new Acer Aspire One Happy has a 10.1″ display and is powered by an 1.5GHz Intel Atom N550 processor. The device is equipped with a good 1GB DDR2 RAM and contains a 160GB hard drive storage. The operating system is Windows 7 Starter Edition.

Motorola Milestone 2 Features Revealed

Written on September 1st, 2010 | 0 Comments

Motorola will soon be unveiling its new Milestone 2. They even had a demo video ready but before you realized it, the video was pulled. But some good folks have managed to get hold of the stocks and have republished the video. So from the demo, here is what we know.

Firstly, this is a MOTOBLUR device. That could in itself come as a deal breaker to many. Nevertheless, let’s move on – there is a 1GHz processor and a 40GB storage space. There is a camera with dual-LED flash but there is no mention about the sensor resolution. Also, you have HD video recording, 3G mobile hotspot, Flash 10.1 support and a Droid 2 keyboard. Multitasking is possible too and you may run up to 7 apps simultaneously.

This is definitely not enough information to make a decision. But you do get the idea, right? Check out the video for more.
