With the advent of smartphones, the usage of Wi-Fi from mobile handsets have increased tremendously. A recent study by In-Stat reveals a few interesting points about Wi-Fi usage from mobile phones
Number of Wi-Fi enabled cell phones shipped in 2009 : 128 million
Number of Wi-Fi enabled cell phones shipped in 2010 : 184 million (43% growth)
Number of Wi-Fi Hot spots in 2009 : 202,000
Number of Wi-Fi Hot spots in 2010 : 245,000 (21% growth estimated)
