It is no news that the mobile data market has been growing exponentially in the past few years thanks to the explosive growth in the smartphone segment. According to a newly published report from Chetan Sharma Consulting, the first quarter of 2010 saw $12.5 billion in mobile data service revenues in the American wireless market. The revenues for 2010 are expected to add up to $54 billion.

2004 : $4.5 billion
2005 : $9.0 billion
2006 : $16.0 billion
2007 : $25.0 billion
2008 : $34.0 billion
2009 : $43.5 billion
2010 : $54.0 billion (estimated)
