UK: Ad Spend on Internet vs. TV

Internet has, for the first time overtaken TV as the medium with the maximum spending in UK. In fact, UK is the first among the major world economies to report this trend. Here is how the spending stands for the first half of 2009.
Spending on Internet : £1.75bn (4.6% YoY)
Spending on TV : £1.6bn (-17% YoY)
£1.05 billion out of the total £1.75 billion on internet was just on search advertising using websites like Google.
Spending on the internet has come a long way. In 1998, it was a mere £19.4 million
