Much like Skype, Paypal, the ecommerce platform from eBay too has been growing significantly through the downturn. This is despite a 29% drop in profits for eBay YoY for the third quarter

Paypal revenues for Q3 2009 : $668.1 million (15% growth YoY)
Paypal active registered users : 78 million (20% growth YoY)
Volume of external merchant usage : 56% (up from 51% last year)
Paypal as a payment option is offered by 44 of the top 100 online retailers in the US
