Social Media Engagement Trends

As more and more people share interesting content via Facebook and Twitter, we are observing increasing levels of off-site engagement. The engagement level within the actual property has seen a decline in the past three years.
Having said that, though content sharing is getting increasingly real-time, the social media pervasion has meant that topics continue to be engaged with long after they are published; unlike how it used to be a few years back. Here are some interesting pointers (All measurements are approximations)
On Site Engagement
2007 : 78%
2008 : 30%
2009 : 25%
Off Site Engagement
2007 : 10%
2008 : 55%
2009 : 60%
Engagement Within First Hour of Publishing
2007 : 93%
2008 : 83%
2009 : 64%
