Smartphone Operating System Market Share

With competition from Android to get hot in the next few months, it will be interesting to see who loses. Here is the market share of the different operating systems on smartphones for the second quarter of 2009:
Symbian : 51%
Microsoft : 9%
RIM : 18.7%
Apple : 13.3%
Android : 2%

Why so? With Nokia being the market leader, Symbian always stands to gain in the market share…

I was surprised to learn this.. I thought symbian was no way near the top.. wat happened to those propriety OSes backed by DoCoMo, I wonder!
It would be nice to see a pie chart of the specific smart phone models which are a hit..
