Comscore conducted a study of digital music download among mobile phone users in five major European markets : UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy. The results are interesting. While iTunes continues to be a major force, there is some serious competition from Nokia Music Store that is now used by close to one-fourth of all users. However, you need to take the results with a grain of salt. It concludes that there are only 4.3 million people in these five markets who download and play music on their mobile phones. Only 4.3 million!

Here are the top five music download service, the number of users who use them and the corresponding market share

1. iTunes Store : 1.2 million (28%)
2. Nokia Music Store : 0.94 million (22%)
3. Vodafone Music Store : 0.56 million (13%)
4. Orange Music Store : 0.39 million (9%)
5. Jamba : 0.3 million (7%)
