Social media is not always social networking, as you might already know. While bulletin boards have existed since the days of web 1.0, their use in brand promotion has been a serious consideration only in the past few years. Here is how the various social media channels were used in 2009 (as percentage of respondents)

Blogs : 45%
Wikis : 25%
Podcasts : 12%
Twitter : 52%
