Most Popular Retail E-Commerce Categories in US

Retail ecommerce grew only by 6% in 2008, which is the slowest since the dot com crash in the early part of the decade. The most popular ecommerce categories during January, have been:
Sports and Fitness
Books and Magazines
Home and Gardening
Flowers, Greetings and Gifts
Apparels and Accessories

When I first read it, it did not sound as obvious..I would have assumed that fitness products related to sports would rather be bought at a next door pharmaceutic rather than online…
For Other things, online seems more plausible though..

It doesn’t surprise me that Sports and Fitness is at the top of the list – it seems to be the growing interest among the general population.
I wonder why it took so many years for people to realize that if you take care of your body, you’ll live longer and feel better!
