How Many SMS Text Messages Sent in a Day in US?

We had written yesterday about SMS advertising to lose out to mobile search advertising in the next few years. But the volume of SMS might just keep growing in the mean time. The volume of SMS sent in the first half of 2009 was double the number last year same time.
Total SMS sent in first half of 2009 : 740 billion
i.e. Volume of SMS sent daily : 4.1 billion
There are 276 million wireless users
i.e. 15 messages per user per day
