2009 has been a tremendous year for the proliferation of Facebook among the elderly. The numbers have been so good that their numbers (55+ age group) has surpassed the number of high school students that saw a decline in demographic share.

Number of 55+ population in January 2009 : 954,680 (2.3% of total Facebook user base)
Number of 55+ population in July 2009 : 5,859,160 (8.1% of total Facebook user base)
