Gartner Mobile OS Market Share Forecast

Android today runs on less than 2% of all smartphones, a close to insignificant number. That could possibly change in the next 3-4 years according to a study by Gartner. Here is how the different mobile operating systems would stack up by 2012. They are ranked based on number of units shipped and the corresponding market share

1. Symbian : 203 million (39%)
2. Android : 76 million (14.5%)
3. iPhone : 71.5 million (13.7%)
4. Windows Mobile : 66.8 million (12.8%)
5. Blackberry : 65.25 million (12.5%)
