Rupert Murdoch must be thinking of shifting base to Italy. The media baron’s obsession to get people to pay for online content is pretty well known and it now looks like Italians are much more ready to pay money to access online news content. A BCG study reveals the following
Money that consumers will be willing to pay for online news:
Australia, USA : $3 per month
Italy : $7 per month
What kind of content are consumers ready to pay for:
Unique/Local news : 67% overall, 72% in USA
Specialized content : 63% overall, 73% in USA
Timely, continual news alerts : 54% overall, 61% in USA
