Botnets account for close to 87.9% of all spam sent. The biggest of the botnets are Rustock and Maazben.
Maazben
Originated in May
Constituted 0.5% of all spam in August and 1.4% of all spam in September
Rustock
Constitutes 1.3 to 1.9 million bots
Spams sent out on a regular basis from 3AM ET to 7PM ET with peak at 7AM ET.
Rustock is the largest botnet in terms of number of bots.
