Symantec has recently detected the One Millionth Malware (Virus, Trojans, Worms…). The second half of 2007 saw Symantec identify 499,811 new forms of malware -136% over the numbers identified in the first half. The total number of malware that Symantec has now identified stands at 1,122,31; 711,912 of which are from 2007 alone!

Losses Due to Internet Crime

The Internet Crime Center is a collaboration between FBI and the National White Collar Crime Center of US. According to them, 207,000 complaints have been reported ranging from child pornography to auction fraud. These crimes had together cost $200 million in 2006 and $240 million in 2007. That is around $680 per complaint!
