Vertical based social networks have always been a popular way to penetrate the networking space that has been inundated with heavy-weights like Facebook and ahem, MySpace. It is hence not surprising that WAYN – a travel based social network that has over 15 million registered users today has reported impressive revenue growth in the past one year.

In a recent post made to the company blog, WAYN co-founder Jerome Touze has revealed that advertising revenues on the travel network has grown over 66% in the past one year. Touze attributes the growth to the launch of a premium ad sales channel that has targeted several tourism organizations from around the world. The company is now learned to be focusing at Latin America and Asia Pacific for its next phase of growth.
