According to reports on the China Daily, Beijing Eedoo Technology president Jack Luo has indicated that his company is working on a new game console named eBox that will be based on a webcam technology that will enable users play games without the need for physical game controllers – Something like Microsoft Kinect?.

The Lenovo eBox is expected to launch first in China in November and possibly move global in the months ahead. Pricing of the device is not available as yet, though it is said that the unit could cost higher than Wii but will come with 30 free games to play.

Sounds great – just that the nomenclature and technology takes the sheen off the news and makes the new device sound like yet another Chinese KIRF

The device is pretty reasonably priced. For AUD559 ($499 approx in USD), you get hold of a 10.1-inches display with a resolution package of 1024×600 pixels, a 1.5GHz dual core Intel Atom N550 processor along with a 1GB DDR3 memory and a 160GB hard drive. Additionally, you will also get to see a 1.3-megapixel webcam, Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity, flash card reader and support for 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi. The device is expected to run on Windows 7 Starter edition.

The model launching in Australia is pretty similar to Lenovo’s IdeaPad that was launched elsewhere though the 1.5GHz processor is a new introduction. That could bring a good competitive edge for Lenovo against the rival product launches.

If you do not remember the technical specifications, here is a short roundup. The notebook runs on an Intel Core processor and is ably supported by an ATI RADEON HD5730 graphics card. Other features on the device include a 1.3-Megapixel camera and support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and LAN. Storage space starts at 250GB and extends all the way up to 750GB.

First about the specs. The Lenovo Ideacentre B305 comes with a 1.5″ WXGA+ LED MultiTouch display with a rich 1920×1080 pixel resolution. The device runs on an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5450 processor and runs on a 2GB RAM and 320GB hard drive. Also, this PC comes pre-installed with the Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit operating system.

And the price? The Lenovo Ideacentre starts at a price of $699 and comes with a one year warranty which I think should appeal to a good number of users. Of course, there are higher end models that come with a much higher RAM and storage that would cost you between $849 and $949. Now, is that appealing enough?

Here is an overview of the newly introduced features and technical specifications in the Lenovo U series Ideapad laptops

There is not enough information on the graphics processor choices though the basic versions at least include Pentium and Celeron choices. The starting price of the Ideapad is expected to be at $679 which is attractive considering the sleek product on offer.
